Which password to change where — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS)
"How do I change the password", "I forgot my password", "I can't open the settings — it asks for a password", "which password do I enter" — Paloma365 has several different passwords and access codes, and a bare "how do I change the password" does not say which one is meant. This article is a short map: which password is for what, and where to find and change it.
Five different passwords
| Password | What it is for | Where to change it | More |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dashboard password | Signing in to the website (web dashboard), where the warehouse, points of sale, employees and settings are managed | Dashboard → Account → Profile (the current password is required) or recovery by email from the sign-in page | Restoring access to the dashboard, Profile |
| Workplace login and password | Signing in the POS (the Paloma365 Classic program) on a specific computer | Dashboard → the point of sale card → the "Workplaces" tab | Installing and updating, An employee cannot sign in to the POS |
| Employee PIN code | Quick personal sign-in of an employee on a POS that is already signed in | Dashboard → Guides → Employees → the employee card | Login and opening a shift |
| POS settings password | Opening the "Paloma365 front-office settings" window on a specific POS computer (hardware, printers, program appearance, etc.) | On the POS itself → the "Settings password" tab; the default is 00000 | POS settings |
| Passwords for cashier actions | The point's password for a specific operation: discount, refund, reports, unlocking an order, etc. | Dashboard → the point of sale card → the tab with operation passwords | Automated Points, Employee permissions and operation passwords |
How to tell which password you need
- You are signing in on the dashboard.paloma365.com website — this is the dashboard password.
- The POS on the computer asks for a login and password when the program starts — these are the workplace login and password (plus, in a separate field next to them, the dashboard login).
- A short numeric code is entered on the POS start screen — this is the employee PIN code.
- You pressed the "Settings" button on the POS itself and it asks for a password — this is the local settings password of this computer (00000 by default).
- The POS asks for a password on a specific action (discount, refund, report) — this is the point's password for that operation, set in the dashboard.
Common problems
- "How do I change the password" without details — first work out which of the five passwords is meant, using the table above.
- The settings password does not work — if it was never changed, try 00000. If it was changed and forgotten, it cannot be recovered on the POS by yourself; a specialist resets the password.
- The point's password for an operation (discount/refund/report) is not set at all — for some operations an empty password means not "access allowed" but "operation denied". Details — Employee permissions and operation passwords.
- The workplace login and password "don't work" — check them in the dashboard on the "Workplaces" tab of the right point of sale, especially if the account has several branches: workplaces are easy to mix up.
FAQ
Does the dashboard password work for signing in to the POS?
No. The POS (the Paloma365 Classic program) requires a separate workplace login and password — they are not the same as the dashboard password, although the dashboard login is also entered on the same sign-in screen, in a separate field.
What is the default POS settings password?
00000, if nobody has changed it. It can be changed on the POS itself, on the "Settings password" tab.
Are the employee PIN code and the workplace password the same thing?
No. The workplace password is shared by the POS on a specific computer and is entered once when it is launched. The PIN code is each employee's personal code, used to sign in on a POS that is already running.
