Card terminals and acquiring — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS)

Paloma365 Classic, the Windows POS application, talks to bank card terminals directly: the POS sends the amount to a Kaspi, Halyk, or other bank terminal, so the cashier never retypes it on the terminal. This prevents entry mistakes and speeds up checkout.

Supported terminals

Kaspi, Halyk (including the "Halyk Restaurants" option connected via a Pairing Code), Forte, Freedom, Alatau, Alsep.

The terminal connects over the local network: POS and terminal must be on the same network (same router), and the POS reaches the terminal by its IP address on port 8080 — if the network has a firewall, this port must be open.

Connecting a terminal

  1. Open the POS settings, "Plugins" tab.
  2. Enable the checkbox for your bank, e.g. "Use Kaspi" or "Use Halyk".
  3. Press "Settings" and fill in: IP Address of the terminal, the payment type the receipt will be closed with (card by default), and manual confirmation (Yes/No). Manual confirmation is a single POS-wide setting shared by all connected terminals, whichever bank's settings window you change it from.
  4. Press "Connection test". On success the POS reports the settings are saved; "Terminal not connected!" means the IP or the network needs checking.

Paying by card

  1. The cashier builds the order and selects the payment type linked to the terminal.
  2. The POS sends the amount — the screen shows "Waiting for payment via terminal".
  3. The customer taps the card (or pays by QR if supported).
  4. On success the POS shows "Transaction completed successfully" and closes the receipt.

The amount sent to the terminal is rounded to a whole number, so the terminal amount may differ slightly from the receipt total.

If the payment fails, the POS shows the terminal's error with buttons "Retry", "Pay manually" (the POS asks to confirm the payment on the terminal; for Kaspi the button is shown only when manual confirmation is enabled, for the other banks — Halyk, Forte, Freedom, Alatau, Alsep — it is always shown during payment), and "Cancel".

Refund to card

Refunds also go through the terminal. For Kaspi the cashier selects "Card" or "QR code", enters the transaction code of the original payment, and presses "Refund". For Halyk the POS fills in the original transaction code automatically from the receipt's payment data — when the code is found, the input field is hidden; manual entry is needed only when that data is missing. The Alsep terminal asks for the transaction code on refund: "Введите RRN" (enter the RRN).

Important: for Forte and Freedom a refund made within the same bank shift as the payment is performed as a cancellation of the whole payment — a partial refund is not possible in that shift. The POS shows the message "Терминал HALYK поддерживает только полный возврат средств по чеку, выберите Все товары и повторите операцию" (the terminal supports only a full refund — select all items and retry; the text mentions HALYK even when the terminal is Forte or Freedom). Select all items and retry, or make the partial refund after the bank shift is closed.

Refund without the terminal

If the refund fails on the terminal (the terminal is unreachable or returns an error), the POS asks: "Process refund without the terminal KASPI?" (KASPI is replaced with your bank's name — HALYK, FORTE, FREEDOM, ALATAU, or ALSEP) and shows the error text. "Yes" — the return receipt is completed in the POS without the terminal; the money is not refunded to the customer's card automatically and must be refunded separately (e.g. manually on the terminal itself). "No" — the return is aborted.

Settlement / closing the day

For Halyk, Forte, Alatau, and Freedom the "Plugins" tab has a "Close shift" button that closes the bank day from the POS. Kaspi and Alsep are settled on the terminal itself.

Common problems

  • Terminal not responding (the settings window shows "Terminal not connected!"; during payment the POS shows a "Response from POS-terminal" message with the error text): check the terminal is powered on, on the same network as the POS, and its IP has not changed (routers may reassign it). Rerun "Connection test".
  • "Invalid response from POS-terminal" — the terminal answered, but the POS could not parse the response (it came back empty or corrupted). Check the connection between POS and terminal and retry; first check on the terminal whether the payment actually went through.
  • "ALSEP terminal is not avaiable and will be turned off, please check the connection settings!" — the POS periodically checks the connection to the Alsep terminal; if it does not respond, the POS shows this message and unchecks "Use Alsep" by itself. Once the connection is restored, re-enable the checkbox and run "Connection test".
  • Payment stuck: check on the terminal whether the payment went through. If yes — "Pay manually" and confirm; if not — "Cancel" and retry.
  • Totals differ: close the shift and compare the terminal's settlement report with POS reports; the usual cause is a payment made on the terminal bypassing the POS. Ask the bank about disputed transactions.

QR payments

Kaspi and Halyk also accept QR payments — same flow on the POS; on refund the cashier chooses "Card" or "QR code".

The separate Kaspi QR service is enabled not in the POS settings but on the Paloma365 side — the POS receives the activation flag from the cloud when it signs in. Kaspi QR requires the POS to have a permanent internet connection.

The QR payment slip does not print

The message "Error printing the QR code!" appears when the POS could not print the bill carrying the QR code. The exact error text follows it and tells you which case it is:

  • "Report file not found …" — the print-form template is missing or damaged on this computer. Update the program: Installation and updates.
  • any other text — the printer itself did not respond. Check the paper and the connection to the printer.

The failure concerns this form only — the QR bill; ordinary receipt printing goes its own way.

Halyk Restaurants

"Halyk Restaurants" is a QR order-payment service via Halyk. It is paired via a Pairing Code and requires internet on the POS; like Kaspi QR, the activation flag comes from the cloud when the POS signs in. On the "Plugins" tab it corresponds to the "Использовать Halyk Рестораны" (Use Halyk Restaurants) checkbox.

The "Settings" button next to the checkbox opens the connection window with:

  • Pairing Code — the pairing code issued by Halyk;
  • Payment type — which payment type the receipt will be closed with (card by default); cash, deposit, and credit ("on account") types are not offered;
  • Menu — which POS menu the service should use.

If a suitable payment type does not exist yet, it can be created right from the POS: a small button next to the payment type field opens a creation window with the fields "Name" (pre-filled "Halyk Рестораны"), "Банковский счёт" (bank account), and a "Fiscal" switch (on by default). Creating requires internet — without it the POS shows "No internet connection...".

After pressing "Apply" the POS performs the handshake with the service: on success it shows "Рукопожание с Halyk Рестораны прошло успешно!" (handshake succeeded), on failure — "Не удалось провести рукопожание с Halyk Рестораны" (handshake failed) with the service's response text (check the pairing code and the internet connection).

FAQ

Can I connect terminals from several banks to one POS?

The POS stopped seeing the terminal after a router change

The terminal got a new IP address. Enter the current IP in the terminal settings and run "Connection test".
