POS settings: "Chef and cooking" and "Program appearance" — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS)

A reference for two tabs of the Paloma365 Classic settings window: "Chef and cooking" («Повар и готовка блюд») — the kitchen screen, the ready-dishes window and the order status board for guests — and "Program appearance" («Вид программы») — tiles, fonts, background, type of business, and hiding fields and buttons in sales mode.

Opening the POS settings window (settings password)

• Where: start screen → menu button → "Settngs" («Настройки») → on-screen keypad "Enter settings password" («Введите пароль настроек») → the "Paloma365 front-office settings" («Настройки Paloma365 - фронт офис») window.
• How to set up: the password is set on the "Settings password" («Пароль для настроек») tab. When the window is closed the POS re-reads its settings, so most changes take effect right after closing it.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: while the settings window is open, the POS's background timer tasks are paused. At the bottom are "Close" («Закрыть», closes only the settings window) and "Close the program" («Закрыть программу»).

Closing the POS from the settings window with "Close the program"

• Where: Settings → bottom of the window → "Close the program" («Закрыть программу») → confirmation "Do you want to close the program? If you force-close the program, data will not be saved!".
• How: press the button and confirm — the POS ends its session and closes.
• Notes: this is a forced close: unsaved data is lost, as the question warns.

"Ready orders" button in the start screen menu

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Systemic control" («Системное управление») section → "Information about the readiness of meals" («Информация о готовности блюд») checkbox.
• How to enable: tick the checkbox. It applies to this computer only. The button appears or disappears right after the settings window is closed.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: the "Ready orders" («Готовые блюда») button opens a window listing dishes by cooking stage; the stages are set on the kitchen screen (the "Chef" / «Повар» interface).

Dish statuses in the waiter's order list ("Extended data on meals")

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Systemic control" → "Extended data on meals in the waiter interface (with the "Chef" interface)" («Расширенные данные по блюдам в интерфейсе официанта (с интерфейсом "Повар")»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (this computer only). The statuses appear in the waiter's order list when "Extended mode" («Расширенный режим») is ticked there. That list opens in the "Waiter" («Официант») interface without a table map, and on the table map via the «Все счета» (All orders) button.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: dishes in an order are marked «Готовится» (cooking), «Готово» (ready) or «Не готово» (not ready); dishes the cook has not yet taken into work are marked «Не готово» (not ready), and dishes already handed over get no mark. The stages are set by the cook in the "Chef" interface.

Cooking stages on the kitchen screen ("Use cooking statuses")

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Systemic control" → "Use cooking statuses" («Использовать статусы приготовления»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox. The setting is stored in the POS database.
• Where it runs: on the POS, "Chef" interface.
• Notes:
  • with it, a dish moves through «Новые заказы» (New orders) → «Готовятся» (Cooking) → «Завершенные» (Completed) → «Отданные» (Handed over); double-clicking a dish asks "Move "…" to the next stage?"; in the «Отданные» (Handed over) list double-clicking does nothing;
  • without it, the kitchen screen shows only «Новые заказы», «Отданные» and "Update" («Обновить»); double-clicking asks "Cook "…"?" and moves the dish straight to «Отданные»;
  • in the "Ready orders" window the stage panel is shown only when this checkbox is on; the last stage there is called «Полученные» (Received).

Which orders to show: "Display orders only from Sales mode"

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Systemic control" → "Display orders only from Sales mode" («Отображать заказы только из "Режима продаж"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox. The setting is stored in the POS database.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • with it, the kitchen screen, the "Ready orders" window and the order status board show only closed (paid) orders of the current shift;
  • without it, the kitchen screen and "Ready orders" show all orders of the shift, while the order status board shows only open (unpaid) orders.

Auto-refresh of the kitchen screen and the "Ready orders" window

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Systemic control" → "List auto-update" («Авто обновление списка»).
• How to set up: on by default (if the value has never been saved, the POS ticks it itself). If you untick it, the list refreshes only with the "Update" («Обновить») button.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • the kitchen screen refreshes every 20 seconds; when new dishes arrive it switches to «Новые заказы», and when the list changes the POS plays a sound;
  • the "Ready orders" window refreshes once a minute, silently;
  • the intervals cannot be changed;
  • with "Sound notification" («Пользовательский звук уведомлений») on, the POS plays beep_2.mp3 from its sound folder, otherwise the standard Windows sound.

Row colours in the "Ready orders" window ("Color gradation")

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Systemic control" → "Color gradation" («Цветовая градация»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (stored in the POS database). The standard cooking time comes from the item card.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • 5 minutes or less left — light yellow background, grey text;
  • time exceeded — red background, white text;
  • no standard time set — light grey background;
  • refusal column with a refusal — black background;
  • the checkbox affects only "Ready orders"; on the kitchen screen overdue dishes are always highlighted in red.

Choosing the departments (kitchen stations) the kitchen screen shows

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → the unlabelled list of departments; click a row to toggle its mark.
• How to set up: mark the departments you need. The choice is stored on this computer only. If none is marked, the kitchen screen shows dishes from all departments.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: the kitchen screen itself does not show the department list — it can only be changed in settings.

Order status board for guests: "Display order statuses on the screen"

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Display order statuses on the screen" («Вывод статусов заказов на экран») → "Save" («Сохранить»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox and press "Save" — the POS starts broadcasting statuses to the board. Broadcasting also starts on every POS start-up and after the settings window is closed. If it cannot start, the checkbox clears itself.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • statuses are sent when stages change on the kitchen screen and when an order is paid or saved;
  • with the checkbox on, sales mode gets a "Food readiness status" («Готовность блюд») button, and the turnstile button is hidden there;
  • the order window opened from the «Официант» (Waiter), «Администратор зала» (Hall manager) and «Тарификаторы» (Tariffs) interfaces gets an "Order status" («Статус заказов») button;
  • both buttons open the kitchen screen.

Order status board port (default 8081)

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Port" («Порт») field → "Save" («Сохранить»).
• How to set up: enter the port number and press "Save" (default 8081, stored in the POS database). The same port goes into the POS address in the board page's params.js file.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • one "Save" button saves both the port and the mask;
  • a new port is guaranteed to take effect only after the POS program is restarted: if broadcasting is already running, "Save" does not move it to the new port.

Text mask for the order status board

• Where: Settings → "Chef and cooking" tab → "Mask" («Маска») field and the buttons «Номер счета <ORDERNO>» (Order number), «Имя клиента <CLNAME>» (Customer name), «Телефон <CLPHONE>» (Phone), «Стол <OBJECT>» (Table) → "Save".
• How to set up: each button appends its placeholder to the end of the "Mask" field; the default mask is <ORDERNO>.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • the board shows the text built from the mask, not only the order number;
  • customer name and phone are filled in only if a customer is attached to the order, the table only if a table is selected;
  • each placeholder is replaced once.

Order status board web page ("НОВЫЕ" and "ГОТОВЫЕ" columns)

• Where: the board page's index.html file; POS addresses are set in the params.js file next to it.
• How to set up: in params.js set the number of POS terminals (sock_cnt) and each POS address as IP:port (port 8081 by default); open index.html in a browser on the guest-facing screen. On the POS, enable "Display order statuses on the screen".
• Where it runs: in a browser on the board device.
• Notes:
  • an order stays in the «НОВЫЕ» (NEW) column while it has new or cooking dishes;
  • it moves to «ГОТОВЫЕ» (READY) when all its dishes are completed (some may already be handed over);
  • when all dishes are handed over, the order disappears from the board;
  • before each broadcast the POS clears the board and sends the list again;
  • short text is padded with leading zeros to three characters (e.g. 7 → 007).

Text placement on item tiles with pictures

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" («Вид программы») tab → "Display quality" («Качество отображения») section → "Images on tiles" («Изображения на плитках»).
• How to set up: available only when "Use product images" («Использовать изображения товаров») is ticked on the "Sync" («Синхронизация») tab. This computer only; applied the next time the menu is built (when sales mode is reopened).
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • "Text on the side" («Текст сбоку») — picture on the left, name on the right in small font;
  • "Text on top" («Текст поверх») — yellow caption with a shadow in the centre of the picture;
  • "Text at the bottom" («Текст внизу») — dark grey caption on a white strip at the bottom of the tile, tiles with no gaps.

Custom background image for the POS start screen

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Display quality" → "Select background file" («Выбрать файл для фона»).
• How to set up: press the button and choose a picture file — the background is applied to the start screen immediately.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: the POS remembers the file path; if the file is moved or deleted, no background is shown.

Restoring the standard start-screen background

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Display quality" → "Clear background" («Очистить фон»).
• How: press the button — the saved picture path is cleared and the background is removed immediately.
• Where it runs: on the POS.

Item tile size and font in sales mode

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Display settings" («Управление отображением») → "Tile size in sales mode" («Размер кнопок в режиме продаж») group → "Font size" («Шрифт») button, "Height" («Высота») and "Width" («Ширина») fields (with on-screen keypad buttons) → "Save".
• How to set up: "Font size" opens the standard font and size dialog; "Height" and "Width" are the tile size in pixels; the «товар» (item) sample shows the result. Press "Save" (this computer only). Applied the next time the menu is built.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • by default a tile is 80 pixels high and 125 wide, font Segoe UI 11; until values are saved, the sample in settings shows Arial 12 — and «Сохранить» (Save) stores the sample's font, so saving the sizes without choosing a font gives the tiles Arial 12;
  • the group caption reads «Размер шрифта, также влияет и на размер в "меню списком"» (font size also affects the list-style menu);
  • values are not range-checked — very large or small numbers are not blocked.

Font size in the order's item table

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Display settings" → "Font of receipt content" («Размер шрифтов в табличной части») group → "Size" («Размер») field (with an on-screen keypad button) → "Save".
• How to set up: enter the size (default 18, this computer only) and press "Save". Applied the next time sales mode is opened.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: it also affects the gifts window, where the font is 2 points smaller.

"Item display limit": how many items search lists show

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Display settings" → "Item display limit" («Лимит товаров в списках»).
• How to set up: change the number (3 to 10000, default 100); it is saved immediately.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • limits the number of items in search results in sales mode and the stop list, and in the lists of warehouse documents and packing;
  • the field's tooltip mentions the delivery-request sync interval — that tooltip is wrong, the field has nothing to do with delivery.

Hiding item tiles when sales mode opens

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Display settings" → "Do not show items while entering sales mode" («Не показывать товары при запуске режима продаж»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox. Sales mode then shows no item tiles, and the show/hide tiles button is hidden.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: handy for shops where items are added by scanner or search.

Item list font in warehouse windows

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Warehouse display" («Отображение склада») → "Font of item list" («Шрифт списка товаров»).
• How to set up: press the button and choose font and size (default Segoe UI 11).
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: used for the item list in warehouse documents and the folder selection window, and for headers in the return search.

Table font in warehouse documents

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Warehouse display" → "Font of receipt content" («Шрифт табличной части»).
• How to set up: press the button and choose font and size (default Segoe UI 11).
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: the same font is used in the kitchen screen table and in the order list of the return search.

Screen proportions in the "Retail" interface

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → ""Retail" interface proportions" («Пропорции интерфейса "Розница"») → a slider labelled «Раздел счета: N%» (order section) and «Товары: M%» (items).
• How to set up: move the slider — 10 % steps, from 30/70 to 70/30, default 50/50.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: applies only in "Sales mode" («Режим продаж») with the "Retail" type of business; otherwise the left panel width is fixed.

Type of business: preset hidden order fields and menu view

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Type of business" («Тип заведения»): "NOT CHOSEN", "Restaurant, Cafe", "Fast food, Canteen", "Retail store", "Beauty saloon", "Billiards, Karaoke, Sauna", "Retail" («НЕ ВЫБРАНО», «Ресторан, Кафе», «Фастфуд, Столовая», «Розничный магазин», «Салон Красоты», «Бильярд, Караоке, Баня», «Розница»).
• How to set up: pick an option (this computer only):
  • "Restaurant, Cafe" and "Billiards, Karaoke, Sauna" hide "BARCODE";
  • "Fast food, Canteen" hides "BARCODE", "GUESTS", "TABLE", "SERVICE CHARGE";
  • "Retail store" hides "GUESTS", "TABLE", "SERVICE CHARGE" and switches the menu to a list;
  • "Retail" hides "GUESTS", "TABLE", "SERVICE CHARGE" and turns on the retail sales-mode layout (the menu stays as tiles);
  • "NOT CHOSEN" and "Beauty saloon" only clear the hiding.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes:
  • picking an option first clears all five "Hide …" checkboxes and restores the tile menu, then applies the preset — you can change the checkboxes manually afterwards;
  • no preset hides "DISCOUNT";
  • in "Retail" mode the sales screen has a retail panel: "Return", open/close shift, report.

Hide the "Service" field in an order ("Hide "SERVICE CHARGE"")

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Hide "SERVICE CHARGE"" («Скрыть "ОБСЛУЖИВАНИЕ"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (this computer only). Applied the next time sales mode opens.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: in the order this field is labelled "Service" («Сервис»).

Hide the discount fields in an order ("Hide "DISCOUNT"")

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Hide "DISCOUNT"" («Скрыть "СКИДКА"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (this computer only). Both the percentage and the amount discount in the order header are hidden; applied the next time sales mode opens.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: no "Type of business" preset ticks this checkbox.

Hide the "Table" field in an order ("Hide "TABLE"")

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Hide "TABLE"" («Скрыть "СТОЛ"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (this computer only).
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: in the "Cashier" («Кассир») interface the table column is hidden and the table choice in the order filter is unavailable.

Hide the "Guests" field in an order ("Hide "GUESTS"")

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Hide "GUESTS"" («Скрыть "ГОСТЕЙ"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (this computer only).
• Where it runs: on the POS.

Hide the barcode field in an order ("Hide "BARCODE"")

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Hide "BARCODE"" («Скрыть "ШТРИХКОД"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (this computer only).
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: in the order the field is labelled "Item barcode" («ШК товара»), or "Customer code" («ШК клиента») when customer search by barcode is enabled on the POS.

Disabling the quick interface switch button

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Disable interface switch menu" («Отключить меню смены интерфейса»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox. The setting is stored in the POS database.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: the interface switch button is hidden on the "Cashier", "Sales mode", "Chef" screens, the table map, the request list, the salon receipt registration and warehouse documents; to switch interfaces, exit to the start screen.

"Stop-list" button in sales mode

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Show "Stop-list"" («Показать "Стоп-лист"»).
• How to enable: tick the checkbox (off by default). The button appears the next time sales mode opens.
• Where it runs: on the POS.

"Quick search" button in sales mode

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Show "Quick search"" («Показать "Быстрый поиск"»).
• How to set up: on by default.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: the button is visible only if item-name search in the menu is enabled for the point of sale; otherwise the search panel is hidden together with the button.

"Return" button on the retail panel in sales mode

• Where: Settings → "Program appearance" tab → "Show "Return" in retail" («Показать "Возврат" в рознице»).
• How to set up: on by default. Applies only with the "Retail" type of business.
• Where it runs: on the POS.
• Notes: if the button is hidden, the other retail panel buttons become wider.
