Electronic scales and PLU upload — Paloma365 Classic (Windows POS) ​

This article covers how Paloma365 Classic — the POS application for Windows — reads weight from electronic scales during a sale and uploads items (PLU) to label-printing scales: ШТРИХ, Масса-К, Rongta and Mertech. All scale settings are in the "Paloma365 front-office settings" («Настройки Paloma365 - фронт офис») window, "Equipment" («Оборудование») tab → "Scales" («Весы»).

Getting the weight from the scales when selling a weighed item ​

  • Where in the interface: when you add a weighed item, the weight entry window opens with the "Get from scales" («Получить из весов») button. On a physical keyboard the * key does the same (weighed items only).
  • How to enable / configure: in Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales", enable your scale type: "Use "Штрих-Slim" scales" («Использовать весы ШТРИХ-Slim») or "Electronic scales "Масса-К" (Old models)" / "(New models)" / "(Driver 100)" («Электронные весы Масса-К (старый модельный ряд)» / «(новый модельный ряд)» / «(Драйвер 100)»). The item must be marked as weighed in the item card.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the "Get from scales" button can also appear in the quantity window of a piece item when the POS asks for a quantity. The Масса-К "Driver R" option does not send weight — it only uploads PLU. If the reading is not settled yet you get "Weight is unstable!" («Вес не стабилен!»); on a connection error — "Failed to get the weight value" («Неудалось получить вес») with the error text. The number of decimal places is set with the "Accuracy control" («Управление точностью») sliders. The same function works in the "Packaging" («Фасовка») interface («Получать вес автоматически» — "Get weight automatically" checkbox) and in the test-weighing button in the settings.

Entering weight by price (the amount is converted to weight) ​

  • Where in the interface: weight entry window → "Enter amount" («Введите количество») / "Enter the price" («Введите стоимость») switches → type a number → OK.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: in "Enter the price" mode the POS divides the entered amount by the item price to get the weight. If the item price is 0, the number is taken as the weight without conversion. The window with these switches opens only for weighed items.

Quick weight buttons (0.25, 0.33, 0.5, 0.75) and setting your own values ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "General settings" («Общие настройки») tab → "Weighted values" («Весовые номиналы») panel → "Button" («Кнопка») / "Value" («Номинал») table → "Save" («Сохранить»). The buttons appear in the weight entry window.
  • How to enable / configure: tap a cell in the "Value" column — the "Weighted value" («Весовой номинал») on-screen keypad opens; type a number and press "Save". A non-numeric or zero value is not accepted. If a saved value turns out invalid, the POS uses the default.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: there are exactly four buttons; defaults are 0.25, 0.33, 0.5, 0.75. The buttons in the weight window show your values.

Weight precision for ШТРИХ-Slim scales (decimal places) ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "ШТРИХ"" («Электронные весы ШТРИХ») panel → "Accuracy control" slider; a sample result is shown in the field next to it.
  • How to enable / configure: move the slider — 1 to 3 decimal places, 3 by default. The value is saved immediately.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the panel is available when "Use "Штрих-Slim" scales" or "Use "Штрих-Принт" scales" («Использовать весы ШТРИХ-Принт») is ticked. It affects the received weight only for ШТРИХ-Slim.

Weight precision for Масса-К scales (decimal places) ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" («Электронные весы Масса-К») panel → "Accuracy control" slider.
  • How to enable / configure: move the slider — 2 or 3 decimal places, 3 by default. The value is saved immediately.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: applies to every Масса-К option the POS reads weight from: old models, new models and "Driver 100".

ШТРИХ-Slim scales: connecting for weighing at sale ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "ШТРИХ"" panel → "Use "Штрих-Slim" scales" checkbox → "Connection test" («Тест подключения») button.
  • How to enable / configure: install the ШТРИХ electronic scales driver (Scale45), tick the checkbox and press "Connection test" — the driver properties window opens, where the scale connection is set.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: "Connection test" is active only when the checkbox is ticked. If the driver is not installed, ticking the checkbox shows "Failed to load "Штрих-СЛИМ" scale driver!" («Не удалось загрузить драйвер весов Штрих-СЛИМ, Scale45!»).

ШТРИХ-Принт scales: uploading items (PLU) over the network ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "ШТРИХ"" panel → "Use "Штрих-Принт" scales" checkbox → "Upload PLU" («Прогрузить PLU») button. The upload window has: "Password" («Пароль», default 30), «Таймаут UDP» (UDP timeout, 500), «UDP-порт получателя» (receiver UDP port, 1111), «UDP-порт отправителя» (sender UDP port, 2000), «Выбор типа PLU кода» (PLU code type: «plu (из таблицы PLU кодов)» — from the PLU code table / «plu2 (из справочника товаров)» — from the item catalog), «Только весовые» (weighed only) and «Обрезать цену» (cut price) checkboxes, the "Price type:" («Тип цены:») list, and the «Прогрузить весы» (upload to scales), «Очистить весы» (clear scales) and «Печать PLU кодов» (print PLU codes) buttons.
  • How to enable / configure: the ШТРИХ label-printing scale driver must be installed. Enter the scale IP addresses (the «...» button next to «IP-адреса весов» — scale IP addresses), change the password and ports if needed, choose the price type ("Item details" «Карточка товара», "Retail" «Розничная», or a price type from the web dashboard) and press «Прогрузить весы». Upload progress is shown in the text field of the window.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.

Which items and data are uploaded to ШТРИХ-Принт scales ​

  • Where it runs: on the POS, with «Прогрузить весы» (upload to scales) in the ШТРИХ-Принт PLU upload window.
  • Notes: items are uploaded if they have a PLU (in the PLU code table or in the item card), are not deleted and are not groups; «Только весовые» (weighed only) keeps only weighed items. The scales receive the PLU, item code, name (in both lines), price (without the fractional part when «Обрезать цену» is ticked) and item type. If the POS cannot connect to the scales, the progress field shows «Не удалось подключиться к весам» (could not connect to the scales) with the IP address. If an item fails to load (the progress field shows a line ending in «ошибка...» (error)), the next item in the list is skipped as well — fix the cause and upload the scales again. If the driver is not installed on the POS, you get «Не удалсь полкючиться к весам...» (spelled this way in the program).

ШТРИХ-Принт scale IP list and choosing which scales to upload to ​

  • Where in the interface: ШТРИХ-Принт PLU upload window → «...» button next to «IP-адреса весов» → «IP - адреса весов» window (columns «Прогружать» — upload, «№», «IP адрес» — IP address, plus navigator buttons to add and delete rows) → "Close" («Закрыть»).
  • How to enable / configure: add a row, enter the scale IP and put 1 in the «Прогружать» column — the scales take part in the upload; 0 — they are skipped.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: the POS remembers the time of the last upload for each IP — automatic upload uses it.

Saving the PLU code list to an Excel file ​

  • Where in the interface: ШТРИХ-Принт PLU upload window → «Печать PLU кодов» (print PLU codes) button.
  • How to enable / configure: press the button — the list is saved to a PLU_CODES file in the program folder; the file path is shown in the message «Файл сохранен - …» (file saved).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: despite the word "print" in its name, the button saves a file, it does not print.

Automatic PLU upload to ШТРИХ-Принт scales after sync ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "ШТРИХ"" panel → "Automatically upload item PLU" («Автоматически выгружать PLU товаров») checkbox.
  • How to enable / configure: tick the checkbox. The upload runs in the background after every download of reference data from the cloud.
  • Where it runs: on the POS; items and prices come from the web dashboard.
  • Notes: automatic upload errors are not shown on screen. Scales are skipped if items did not change or prices did not change since their last upload: for ШТРИХ-Принт the automatic upload runs only when both items and prices have changed. Scales with 0 in «Прогружать» are not uploaded.

Масса-К scales: old models, new models, "Driver 100", "Driver R" ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel → checkboxes "Electronic scales "Масса-К" (Old models)", "(New models)", "(Driver 100)", "Massa-K electronic scale (Driver R)" («Электронные весы Масса-К (Драйвер R)»).
  • How to enable / configure: install the Масса-К driver for your option (the new-models checkbox has a tooltip with a link to the ScalesMassaK_v1.2.0.4.exe installer), tick the checkbox and check the connection with "Connection test".
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: old models, new models and "Driver R" are mutually exclusive — ticking one clears the others; "Driver 100" is ticked independently. "Driver R" only uploads PLU and does not send weight to the POS. "Driver 100" only weighs via a COM port: if it is the only one ticked, "Upload PLU" in the settings is inactive, and uploading Масса-К PLU from the "Packaging" interface shows "Scales are not configured" («Весы не настроены»).

Масса-К: COM port or IP connection and connection test ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel → "Virtual COM port" («Виртуальный COM порт») / «IP адрес» (IP address) switch, COM port list, IP field (default 192.168.0.132) → "Connection test" button.
  • How to enable / configure: choose the connection type, port or IP and press "Connection test". On success the POS shows "Connection to "МАССА-К" scales through port … is successful! COM port was saved!" («Подключение к весам МАССА-К по порту … успешно удалось! СОМ порт был сохранен!») and remembers the port (or IP); on failure — "… Failed!" («НЕ удалось!»). For "Driver R" the answer is "Scale connected!" («Весы подключены!») or "Scale not connected!" («Весы не подключены!»); on success the IP is saved.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: "Driver 100" is always tested and used via the COM port. With "Driver R" the switch is locked to «IP адрес». For old and new models, in the current version the connection test answers "Failed!" and does not save the port unless "Driver 100" is ticked as well — in that case contact support.

Weight multiplier for Масса-К "Driver 100" scales ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel → «Множитель веса:» (weight multiplier) field, default 1.
  • How to enable / configure: enter a whole number — the field accepts digits only; the value is saved immediately.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: weight is multiplied only with "Driver 100". Do not leave the field empty: the value is checked on every weighing, and with an empty field the POS shows "Failed to get the weight value" on any scales.

Test weighing from the settings window ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel → the button with a scale icon (no caption).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: works the same as "Get from scales" (including ШТРИХ-Slim); the current weight is shown in a pop-up message.

Uploading items (PLU) to Масса-К scales: CSV file or "Driver R" ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel → "Upload PLU" button. The window has: «Выбор типа PLU кода» (PLU code type: «plu (из таблицы PLU кодов)» / «plu2 (из справочника товаров)»), "Price type:", «Скрыть товары с нулевой ценой» (hide zero-price items) checkbox, and the «Сформировать CSV файл» (create CSV file), «Программа для формирования CSV» (CSV program), «Прогрузить весы» (upload to scales) and "Close" buttons.
  • How to enable / configure: choose the PLU type and price type. For old and new models, first press «Сформировать CSV файл» — the POS creates MASSA_K_DATA_FILE.CSV and opens its folder; then «Прогрузить весы» — the Масса-К exchange program ScalesCommunications.exe starts with that file. «Прогрузить весы» does not rebuild the CSV itself. If the exchange program is missing, «Программа для формирования CSV» downloads it (if present — starts it). For "Driver R", «Прогрузить весы» uploads directly to the scales over IP.
  • Where it runs: on the POS.

Which items and data are uploaded to Масса-К scales ​

  • Where it runs: on the POS, in the "Upload PLU" window of the "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel.
  • Notes: "Upload PLU" is active with old models, new models or "Driver R". With "Driver R" the «Сформировать CSV файл» and «Программа для формирования CSV» buttons are locked, the item list on the scales is deleted before loading, and the result is «Товары выгружены» (items uploaded) or «Ошибка выгрузки весов MassaR» (MassaR upload error). Only items with a PLU of the chosen kind are uploaded (from the PLU code table or from the item card). The scales receive the item code, PLU, name, price, type (weighed — prefix 22, piece — 21) and composition (description up to 150 characters); with "Driver R" also the unit of measure. «Скрыть товары с нулевой ценой» removes items whose item-card price is zero.

Automatic PLU upload to Масса-К scales after sync ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Electronic scales "Масса-К"" panel → "Automatically upload item PLU" checkbox.
  • How to enable / configure: tick the checkbox. The upload runs after reference data is downloaded from the cloud.
  • Where it runs: on the POS; items and prices come from the web dashboard.
  • Notes: for old models, new models and "Driver 100" the POS builds the CSV and starts ScalesCommunications.exe (its window may appear) — only if items or prices changed since the last upload. For "Driver R" the direct upload runs after every reference-data download.

Rongta scales: uploading items (PLU) over the network, old and new firmware ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Rongta electronic scales" («Электронные весы Rongta») panel → "Upload PLU" button. The window has: «IP-адреса весов» (scale IP addresses) caption, a table «IP Адрес весов» (scale IP) / «Коэффициент» (ratio) / «Драйвер» (driver: «Старый» old / «Новый» new, toggled by tapping), "Add" («Добавить») and "Delete" («Удалить») buttons, "Price type:", «Только весовые товары» (weighed items only) checkbox and «Прогрузить весы» (upload to scales) button.
  • How to enable / configure: add rows with the scale IP, price ratio (the price is multiplied by it, default 1) and driver type. «Старый» needs the driver file rtscaledrv.dll in the POS program folder (otherwise «Не удалось подключить файл драйвера весов: rtscaledrv.dll» — could not load the scale driver file); «Новый» is for RLS1100 firmware, exchanges directly over the network (UDP port 5001) and needs no driver file. Press «Прогрузить весы»; on error — «Не удалось выгрузить товары в весы RONGTA [IP: …]» (could not upload items to RONGTA scales).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.

Which items and data are uploaded to Rongta scales ​

  • Where it runs: on the POS, with «Прогрузить весы» in the Rongta upload window.
  • Notes: the item-card PLU is used as the scale PLU; items with a PLU longer than 6 digits are skipped without a message (the «Новый» driver also skips items without a PLU in the card). The weighed and piece barcode prefixes from the settings are sent, and the item code follows the "Search when scanning label" («Поиск при сканировании этикетки») mode: with "By PLU" («По PLU») the code = PLU, otherwise the code = item code. Use a whole-number ratio: with the «Старый» driver a fractional ratio breaks the upload, with «Новый» it is replaced by 1. The «Старый» driver also programs the scale hotkeys. «Новый» cuts the name to 36 characters and sends it in Windows-1251 encoding. On full success there is no summary message; for each scale that could not be uploaded the POS shows a separate message with its IP address. «Выгрузка завершена» (upload finished) appears only in some cases of partial upload, so it does not tell you whether all scales were loaded.

Automatic PLU upload to Rongta scales after sync ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → "Rongta electronic scales" panel → "Automatically upload item PLU" checkbox.
  • How to enable / configure: tick the checkbox; each scale is uploaded only if items or prices changed since the last upload to that scale.
  • Where it runs: on the POS; items and prices come from the web dashboard.
  • Notes: automatic upload errors are not shown on screen.

Mertech scales: uploading items (PLU) over the network ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → «Электронные весы Mertech» (Mertech electronic scales) panel → "Upload PLU" button. The window has: «IP-адреса весов» caption, a table «IP Адрес весов» (scale IP) / «Порт» (port) / "Password" («Пароль»), "Add" and "Delete" buttons, "Price type:", «Только весовые товары» (weighed items only) checkbox and «Прогрузить весы» (upload to scales) button.
  • How to enable / configure: add rows with the scale IP, port and password, choose the price type and press «Прогрузить весы». No separate drivers are needed — the POS talks to the scales directly over the network (TCP).
  • Where it runs: on the POS.
  • Notes: items with an item-card PLU of up to 10 digits are uploaded; if "Search when scanning label" is not "By PLU", the item code must also be at most 10 digits, otherwise the item is skipped. If the POS cannot connect to the scales — «Не удалось выгрузить товары в весы Mertech [IP: …]» (could not upload items to Mertech scales). On full success there is no summary message; «Выгрузка завершена» (upload finished) appears only in some cases of partial upload, so it does not tell you whether all scales were loaded.

Automatic PLU upload to Mertech and sending barcode prefixes to the scales ​

  • Where in the interface: Settings → "Equipment" → "Scales" → «Электронные весы Mertech» panel → "Automatically upload item PLU" checkbox; "Prefix for barcodes" («Префикс для штрих-кодов») group (next to the "Barcode format" («Формат штрихкода») switch) → "Save".
  • How to enable / configure: tick the checkbox. The upload runs after reference data is downloaded, if items or prices changed. With the checkbox ticked, "Save" in the "Prefix for barcodes" group also sends the weighed and piece prefixes to the Mertech scales.
  • Where it runs: on the POS; items and prices come from the web dashboard.
  • Notes: if sending the prefixes fails, the same message as for item upload is shown: «Не удалось выгрузить товары в весы Mertech [IP: …]».
