Time-Based Discounts
The Time-based Discounts guide sets a schedule for discounts: at what time of day, on which days of the week and within which date range a discount is active.
How to Access
Navigate to: Sidebar > Guides > Time-based Discounts
Route: /warehouse/guides/t_discount_time

Overview
A time-based discount does not hold a percentage itself. The percentage (or amount) is set in the discount — in the Discounts guide. Here you pick an existing discount and specify when it is active: start and end time, start and end date, and days of the week.
So the setup always takes two steps:
- Create a discount with the percentage you need in the Discounts guide.
- Set its schedule here, in Time-based Discounts.
This is handy for happy hours, weekday lunch deals, weekend promotions and other time-bound offers.
List Columns
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Code | Record code |
| Name | Name of the time-based discount |
| Start Time | Time of day the discount starts |
| End Time | Time of day the discount ends |
| Start Date | Date the discount starts |
| End Date | Date the discount ends |
Fields
| Field | Description | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Record name, e.g. "Happy Hour" | Yes |
| Discount | A discount from the Discounts guide — this is where the percentage is set | No |
| Start Time | Time of day the discount starts | No |
| End Time | Time of day the discount ends | No |
| Start Date | Date the discount starts | No |
| End Date | Date after which the discount no longer applies | No |
| Weekdays | Mon–Sun checkboxes: the days the discount is active | No |
Only Name is required by the form, but without a selected Discount the record is not tied to anything — always pick a discount.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1. Create a discount with a percentage
- Open Sidebar > POS > Discounts.
- Create a new discount: enter a Name, set Discount Type to Percentage discount and enter the value in Discount %.
- Save the discount.
See Discounts for details.
Step 2. Set the schedule
- Open Guides > Time-based Discounts.
- Click New Time-based Discount.
- Enter the Name (e.g. "Happy Hour").
- In Discount, select the discount you created in step 1.
- Set Start Time and End Time (e.g. 17:00 and 19:00).
- If needed, set the promotion's Start Date and End Date.
- Tick the Weekdays when the discount is active.
- Click Save.
End date
If an End Date is set and it has already passed, the discount no longer applies. To extend the promotion, change the end date.
Example
"Happy Hour" — 20% off from 17:00 to 19:00, Monday through Friday:
- In Discounts, create the discount "Happy Hour 20%": type Percentage discount, Discount % — 20.
- In Time-based Discounts, create a record:
- Name: Happy Hour
- Discount: Happy Hour 20%
- Start Time: 17:00
- End Time: 19:00
- Weekdays: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri
FAQ
Where is the "Discount percent" field?
It is not on this form — the percentage is set in the discount itself in the Discounts guide. In a time-based discount you select that discount in the Discount field.
Can I see the schedule right in the discount card?
Yes. The discount card in the Discounts guide has a Date & Time tab — it shows and edits the same schedule records for that discount.
How is a time-based discount different from a time-based price?
Time-based prices set a specific item price during a time window. A time-based discount defines when the selected discount from the Discounts guide is active.
